Accounting Records and Audit Compliance

All registered companies must keep proper accounting books that sufficiently explain their transactions and financial position, enabling true financial statements to be prepared.

Compliance requirements include:

  • Financial Year End (FYE): Defining the company's financial cycle.
  • Preparation of Financial Statements: Preparing balance sheets and profit & loss statements in compliance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS).
  • Statutory Audit: Every company must appoint an auditor unless they qualify for the "small company" audit exemption (revenue ≤ S$10M, assets ≤ S$10M, employees ≤ 50).
